VALI NASR is Majid Khadduri Professor of International Affairs and Middle East Studies at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, where he served as Dean from 2012 to 2019. He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the South Asia Center of the Atlantic Council. From 2009 to 2011, Nasr was Senior Adviser to the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is the author of Dispensable Nation: American Foreign Policy in Retreat, among other books.
