Ely Ratner

ELY RATNER is U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs. From 2015 to 2017, he was Deputy National Security Adviser to then Vice President Joe Biden. He previously served in the State Department’s office of Chinese and Mongolian affairs and as a staff member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He previously held the Maurice R. Greenberg Senior Fellowship for China studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and was Executive Vice President and Director of Studies at the Center for a New American Security.
